Be the Body

By January 5, 2017 No Comments

There are days that all I want to do is spend some time, by myself, without the need for any human interaction. It’s the way I’ve been made. If we have the option to go out or have a quiet night at home, my first inclination is to stay home.

However…

While God may have created some personalities to favor “alone time”, ultimately I choose to be involved with others because we are meant to live in community.

Many living and breathing pieces that function together to become more than we can be alone.

14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. 1 Corinthians 12:14–20 (ESV)

When it comes to living life or working, I also prefer to work alone. I know what I can do and I am in control of my priorities and how everything will turn out. However, God didn’t make us to follow Him in this way.

You are made to fulfill a role in the “body” of Jesus Christ.
That means you can only be partially successful or full if you plan to do it alone.

Additionally, you will leave the people, that are your spiritual family, to function without one of it’s core parts…
YOU!

I know it can be daunting, but you were made to fit in the body and the body needs you to fulfill it’s purpose and it’s mission.

Will you join us for this important sermon series as we seek to “Be the Body” together?
The truth is…we are ALWAYS stronger together.
