What has the Holy Spirit been teaching you lately?
We are drawn to charisma, confidence, and intelligence.
They have a way of encouraging us to trust them. That they have more answers than we do.
There is much that we can learn from others, but what are you learning on your own?
Are you constantly feeding from the offerings of others or are you experiencing the life altering whispers of the Holy Spirit, teaching you the mysteries of the Kingdom?
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:26–27 (ESV)
If you believe you need someone else who is smarter, wiser, and more studied than you to understand what God wants to say, then you are giving the power of your growth into someone else’s hands.
You don’t have to wait.
You can grow on your own right now.
God will open up the world, the culture, your own eyes, and His Word to you on a regular basis so that you can grow no matter what.
You don’t have to be under the perfect teacher.
You don’t have to enroll in a seminary.
You don’t have to buy the latest best-seller.
You just have to listen to the Spirit.
How often are you being still and quiet before Christ and His Word?
How often are you thinking about God and the things that He has already shown you?
When is the last time you were in awe over what God was doing in you, not just in your circumstances?
When you stop placing your growth in someone else’s hands, you will experience the supernatural like you never have before.
And then, you will have the opportunity to pass it on to someone else.
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, 13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. 14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil. Hebrews 5:12–14 (ESV)
