Trust is not a simple thing to have.
What takes a lifetime to build can be lost in a moment.
Yet, this is exactly what God is asking of us even when He acts in ways that cause us to question Him.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)
As my kids have grown, I have had to test the levels of their trust.
Leaving them for their first day of school.
Moving across the country to leave all that they have known for a new future.
Encouraging them to take a chance on their driver’s test and then actually driving.
At times, refusing to rescue them from their circumstances so they can grow through their own struggle.
The list could go on forever…
In your relationship with God, He is constantly asking you to trust Him.
When He gives you what you want and when He doesn’t.
When He rescues you from your circumstances and when He doesn’t.
When He promises to guide you to a place of joy and hope, but it seems to detour through a place that is dark and dangerous.
God is always asking you to trust Him!
Have you ever noticed who you actually trust?
It’s probably someone that you have little doubt of their complete love for you.
We naturally trust our parents.
We trust our best friends.
We trust those that have been with us faithfully through thick and thin.
It just comes naturally when we know we are loved!
That’s why you can completely trust that God is leading you on a path that is trustworthy, good, inspired, and full of hope…
even when you have to walk through dark times to get there.
The reason that we can trust God completely?
Because He has demonstrated His undying love through Christ.
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:31–35,37 (ESV)
God is for you…
completely for you.
His love is perfect and His paths are straight.
Even when you question where He is taken you, His perfect love calms our fears, relieves our worries, and quietly ensures us that He is sovereign and He knows what He is doing.
You can trust Him through your pain, through uncertainty, through disappointment, frustration, and despair.
You can trust that He has your very best interest at heart…
always…
never ceasing…
and without end.
God’s love for you is perfect which means it is complete, full, and lacking in nothing.
So, you can trust Him with whatever you have been through, whatevery you are going through now, and whatever you will go through in the future.
God’s love for you is immense.
He has adopted you into His family.
Given you the Holy Spirit.
Made you a new creation.
Wiped your slate clean.
Promised to walk with you through the good and the bad.
Will never leave you or forsake you.
Perfect love inspires complete trust.
