I know it’s been a busy week.
Some things have gone right but some may have gone terribly wrong and it’s hard not to be consumed with thinking about them.

The debates on social media seem so pressing…and dark.
The weather isn’t helping, either.
I’m so weary of the clouds and rain.

So, did you do it, yet?
That thing that I encouraged you last weekend to consider?
To be still, quiet, and consider the glory and majesty of God all around you?
Did you take a moment to just worship, simply?

If you did, how was it?
Did you feel Him? Hear Him? Feel drawn to immerse yourself in His Spirit?

Did a song come to your mind…and then your lips…and then your heart?
Did you remember that God loves you and He is there with you?
The majesty of a heavenly father that knows the number of every hair on your head, every good (and bad) thing that you did.

Were you drawn to just be, thankful?
Or, perhaps, you were reminded of a mistake you made and you were in need of grace…or forgiveness…and in confessing it to Him, you experienced His mercy wash over you?

Did the world, for just a moment, stand still as you beheld the presence of your greatest treasure?
Did you feel insignificant?
Or, did you feel as if God was focused just on you and your praise?

If you haven’t done it, yet, what is stopping you?
Do you have plans this weekend that are so exciting that you just haven’t had time?
Are you afraid that God won’t be there…that it will be a waste of time…that He won’t meet you?

As a Christian, life can get so complicated. We become consumed with what we are supposed to believe, how we are supposed to act, and how often we are supposed to pray…or read the Bible…or go to church…or serve others.
But worship wasn’t meant to be complicated, it was meant to be simple.
As R. C. Sproul reminds us:

“Men are never duly touched and impressed with a conviction of their insignificance, until they have contrasted themselves with the majesty of God.”

We remember how great God is compared to ourselves and we worship Him for it…
not to get something out of it…
but simply to give glory, honor, and thankfulness to Him because He deserves it.
That’s literally what’s going on in heaven RIGHT NOW.

10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:10-11 (ESV)

So, if you haven’t done it, yet, what is stopping you?
Why not right now?
Or maybe on your lunch break?
Maybe on your way home?
Perhaps, you can get up before everyone else in your house tomorrow morning so you can experience Him in quiet?

Even if you haven’t done it, yet, you still have time.
But, I will tell you, the more you do it, the more you will be drawn to simply worship.
Because, once you start giving more glory to God instead of expecting something for yourself, you will find that God generously meets you and fills you with more than you can possibly imagine or understand.
